Adequacy and Birthday Cake
Hello my friends! I hope everyone had a good week. Our own was awesome.
It started out on Tuesday with Elder seeley's birthday. I bought him a cake from this lady we are teaching who makes cakes that actually ended up being pretty fire. We almost burnt the house down trying to light the candles (which were a roman candle and some dry spaghetti noodles) but it turned out OK. We enjoyed.
Also, our power went out so we made pancakes. It was pretty fun. See below for evidence.
We've had some really awesome lessons this week. We're getting better at teaching together and Elder Seeley is killing it. I'm so blessed. I was really worried about getting someone who wants to be lazy or disobedient but Elder Seeley wants to work and is such a cool guy. We have a lot of fun and we freaking WORK. I've been so tired this week, but it's been worth it. We're getting better at balancing everything and not forgetting about people and stuff.
Finding has been so blessed. We've been getting more direct as time goes on. I don't know if that's a bad or a good thing, but it's a thing. A couple times this week we literally just started talking to people and were like, "Hey, we're missionaries, we would love to come see you sometime and talk about Jesus." And they were all like, "Yeah totally, here's my number." The trick is just keeping everything organized so we don't forget about people.
We've been getting to know members a lot more also which is cool. We planned a bunch of member visits where we met a member family, taught them a lesson, and then asked them if they knew anyone who might be interested in the gospel. They've gone really well. My Bishop is so cool. He was baptized at 23 and was called as a seminary teacher less than a year later, and is now serving as Bishop. We've heard a lot of awesome conversion stories this week from our members.
I've thought much this week about adequacy. I'm not very good at training or being a missionary, but I'm adequate. I'm not very good at directions or Fante or anything like that but the Lord can still use me. It's comforting to know that we don't have to be that great to serve the Lord. We just need to try our best.
Keep trying and trusting.
Love,
Elder Johnson
