Christmas Parties with Nigerian Businessmen

Good morning everyone! This week was a blast. Christmas in Cape Coast is so awesome. And my ward is awesome too. A lot happened this week, so maybe I can just give you some of the highlights: This Wednesday we had a mission wide Christmas party in Takoradi, a big city about 4 hours away from Cape Coast. We all got up at 4:30 and got on a tro-tro (just a big van) with a bunch of other missionaries and headed to Takoradi.  It was so much fun! Seeing my MTC group, former district/zone leaders, and other friends was a blast. Since I'm in Cape Coast, the incoming missionaries sometimes stay with us before transfers so I know quite a few of them also. It was great to see everyone.  And the party was sic. There was a really funny talent show where every zone did a talent and then individual missionaries did stuff. Our zone did Joy to the World featuring Elder Ence on the kazoo and me on the guitar. I don't know how great it sounded but we got a lot of laughs. There was a fun mix of

Good morning everyone! This week was different than we expected but it was still really great. It started with us finding out that Emmanuel was busy this Saturday and couldn't get baptized. Sad day. Also, Jessica travelled so we couldn't teach her everything so she also had to get pushed back BUT the good news is all of our little fellas (Prince, Mimi, and Charles) as well as Adelaide, who attends our ward but lives in Ola and was taught by the missionaries there but baptized in our ward, were able to be baptized. It was awesome. We had some big miracles that made that happen.  We also had all of them try to break into the font and go swimming before the baptism but luckily we got there in time to stop them. The baptisms went on successfully and we even had Mimi's dad come watch the baptism which was awesome. We're even going to start meeting with him. Life is good.  Transfers are next week and I'm a little nervous. I've never changed areas before so hopefully

What Do an 80-year-old Man and 3 Primary Kids Have in Common?

Good afternoon everybody! This was quite possibly the greatest week of my life. Last week was a little tough for me in terms of being totally focused, but this week I felt like I did a lot better job. I want to tell you about some of the people we're teaching right now because it perfectly sums up my feelings right now.  The first person I want to tell you about is Emmanuel Super-Washington. I know what you're thinking: coolest name ever, right? You'd be correct. He's also the coolest person ever. He's 81 years old but is in super good shape and can read really well and speaks really great English, all of which are kind of rare attributes of many of the Ghanaian 80+ people that I've met here.  I met him during my first transfer here in Cape Coast. My companion was buying washing powder at a little roadside stand on our way home to our apartment one night, and Emmanuel stopped us and asked us if we had an extra copy of the Book of Mormon. We were like, yes of c

Good evening everyone! Some moments from this week: Baptism dates: Prince and Mimi (two kids we are teaching) accepted baptismal dates for the 18th. Yay! Our friend Jessica is also planning on being baptized on that day. Great times.  Fingers (or the lack thereof): I was using a knife to separate some frozen sausages and I about lost my finger. Fortunately, everything was OK but it still shook me up a little bit. Next time I'll use a cutting board.  Finding (the elect): God helped us have a lot of success finding the elect this week. We had some awesome lessons and have high hopes for some of the people we've found to progress.  Fufu (and ncackra): yesterday was the second time someone we met less than 24 hours before fed us dinner. Regina, whose brother is on a mission in Nigeria right now, let us teach her, came to church, and fed us dinner on Sunday. It was crazy awesome. Also, there were goat jaws+tongues in each bowl. Fun times.  Church: this Sunday was one of the cooles
