Loving Takoradi
Their families too are great. Charlotte, Rosina's aunt, fed us jollof (which is really yummy rice) the other day, and the Ankumas, who are Success's aunt and uncle, are also really awesome and treat us really well. Plus they have a super comfy couch and we usually teach Success last thing so it's nice.
It's not just those two families that are great though. Our whole ward has been really awesome. Church is always really uplifting and people come and greet our friends without even being asked to do so! On Sunday we were super blessed and a bunch of our friends came to church so it was nice to have good members to say hi to them.
Also, after church we went on visits with Bishop Kowfie and his Councillor, Brother Asamoah, and it was so great. They showed us two less active part-member families that we are going to start teaching which I'm really excited for. Finding through members is so great because it works! We do so much finding on our own and teach a lot of first, second, and third lessons, but often people don't progress very well. We have high hopes for the people Bishop showed us, because referrals usually tend to progress better than other people.
And that's the important thing: helping people progress towards making covenants with God. We learned about helping make that happen this week in zone conference, which was unfortunately on zoom for some unknown reason. It was super powerful though. President Morrison is so good at knowing what this mission needs and helping us. We learned about teaching skills, which was super inspired. We teach so many lessons, because Ghanaians are awesome and love God, but it's easy to let the quality of what you are teaching decline when you teach a lot of lessons in a day. I felt impressed that we need to a lot better job of bringing the energy to every lesson and not let them become work. I also learned that we need to work with members a lot more. And God is already helping us make that happen. It's incredible. The more effort we put into each lesson, the more people will feel the Spirit. And the more people feel the Spirit, the likelier they are to make and keep commitments. And when they make commitments, they feel the Spirit more and have a desire to make covenants with God. That's what it comes down to, and I know that is true.
I love you all! Have a great week.
Love,
Elder Johnson
