I Drove President's Car!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you're all doing well. This week was so awesome. I feel like things are going well in our area and our ward is getting more excited about missionary work which is great.  On Thursday we had zone council and interviews with president which was really great. I love that man. I told him about how we've really struggled with overscheduling (is that one word or two?) and how I'm not always sure if we are using our time in the best way possible. He told me to always eat the heaviest elephant. Basically, just to prioritize progressing people BUT he also said that it's on a case-by-case basis and we should just follow the Spirit. That all may seem obvious but what he said next really helped me out.  He told me that we won't get it right every time. We won't optimize every second of every day perfectly. We won't always teach perfectly. Maybe we'll say or do the wrong thing. But missionary work is about faithfulness. He said that as

Good morning everyone! I sure love you all. This week was good. We've had some great highlights and some small lowlights but the good is greater than the not good, as it usually is.  The sad thing is that our friend Bernice, who has been in baptismal date twice, said she is done meeting with us and going to church. She said she feels like God doesn't hear her and that all we do is bug her and try to force her to learn even when she doesn't want to. That was pretty rough, but I think she will probably get over it. She's kind of streaky and sometimes really likes the gospel and sometimes doesn't, so I'm sure this will pass.  That was a little hard, and honestly even before that happened I was struggling a little bit mentally. Like I just felt a little tired and out of place for a couple days.  But God is good, and I got through it! On Wednesday we had zone conference which was cool, and that was the day Bernice broke up with the gospel. However, zone conference

Good evening! This week was good. One thing my mom has told me to do out here is to "revel in the uniqueness of the experience." This week was a blast, and there was definitely a lot of unique experiences this week.  First of all, our buddy Benjamin who we kinda of stopped teaching because he likes to just preach to us for like two hours every time we see him came into some money and now buys us snacks every time we see him. Like good snacks! The other day we were passing by his cart (he sells phone accessories) and he called us over and bought us TWO sachets of ice cream (everything comes in a bag here) each plus some little pastry things that were really yummy. And today he gave us each a 2-liter coke, a can of juice, and like six biscuits each. We might need to start teaching him again.  Also, we taught a lady named BeyoncĂ© (see the title) at her hardware store the other day. It was nice, but she didn't know All the Single Ladies, even after I sang it for her. We had

Breaking news: you can't force someone to accept the truth of the restored gospel

Hello everyone! Despite the slightly unhinged title, this week was great. We received some sad news though! Elder Cluff, our zone leader who we live with who is also one of the funniest/coolest elders that I know, is going on transfer! We were all really surprised because he's only been here for one transfer, but God's plan is perfect. He's going to go do great things I'm sure.  That's going to really change things around here, but I'm sure it'll all be fine. I'm still in the promised land with the best companion ever so life is good.  This week we had some big blessings. We were able to sit down with Francis, the one who kind of broke our hearts last week, and figure out what was going on. We just wanted to know what caused the shift from I've-come-to-church-for-three- straight-weeks-and-I-want-to- be-baptized to I-don't-want-to-come-to- church-or-be-baptized-please- stop-asking. He kind of danced around the issue, telling us that the taxi far
