From Sic to Sick and Hopefully Back Again

Good evening! I hope you're all doing well. This week was nice, but a little challenging. Elder Bukasa, who is really sic, got really sick. We went to the hospital, and they said he has mumps. What the heck. The diagnosis process was a little interesting, but hopefully she got it right. The doctor literally just asked him his symptoms, looked at his face, and said that it was mumps. The whole visit including medication cost less than ten dollars though so maybe it's OK.

That kinda slowed our week down though. On Tuesday we said bye to everyone going on transfer and had an ok proselyting day. Wednesday I went to Cape Coast for the transfer meeting and came back with Elder Egwatu, our new apartment mate and Elder Clemons's new companion. He's from Nigeria but lived in Ghana for a few years so he speaks twi which is awesome. He seems like a really cool guy.

Thursday we went to the hospital in the morning and then worked till closing time, but my companion was mega sick. Friday he slept in, then said he couldn't go out. That was a long day. I studied a ton though, and I cleaned our bathroom for I think the first time in the history of our apartment. If we have many more sick days, I'll finish reading the Old Testament and Jesus the Christ by Talmage and we'll have the cleanest apartment in the mission. Pray that that doesn't happen though lol.

Saturday we had a great day of weekly planning and small proselyting and we had a sleepover! Elder Cluff and Elder Freeman, who are elders that I've lived with at different times throughout my mission and love, stayed at our apartment on their way home from a meeting. It was really fun. We also had a bunch of elders going on transfer stay with us on Tuesday which I enjoyed. There's a lot of cool people in this mission. We also got pizza with them when they came which rocked. There's randomly a really yummy pizza place down the street from our apartment.

All in all, even with my companion being sick, I still enjoyed the week. My dad told me before I left that there are good things about even the hardest days. And I see that this week. Friday was not easy, but there were some great things about it. Especially my studies. I learned some cool stuff.

I've been studying Jesus Christ a lot, which is a very broad but sweet topic. One thing I've felt that I haven't really before when thinking about Jesus is admiration. Just respect and admiration for our Savior. Life is HARD. And He did it all with no mistakes. He was subject to everything we're subject to and so much more and He never slipped up. He never said an unkind word or committed any type of sin.

And after all of that, He didn't ask for anything! He even directed the glory back to His Father. There was nothing in it for him. I admire that. He also had to learn and grow and progress just like us. But He did it without any mistakes. What a guy.

I sure love him, and I love all of you. Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Johnson
