BAPTISM!

Good morning everyone. First of all SYLVIA GOT BAPTIZED! That was the best part of the week for sure. We had some challenges getting everything taught, but no unhallowed hand can stop this work from progressing and we were able to finish everything before the baptism yesterday! Our main issue was that Sylvia doesn't speak or understand English and is from the Northern part of Ghana so she doesn't speak Fante either, which is what everyone speaks here. Her grandma Doris is the one who translates for us and she does a great job but she was sick all week. We were really worried about that all working out, but luckily the gift of tongues is real and God loves us because her Grandpa was able to help us finish everything up in Fante and she was able to understand and respond! It was miraculous.

What was even cooler is that Douglas, the grandpa who helped us finish everything, was the one to baptize her. He had some hesitations about it but he did it and it was so sweet. And her uncle Prince did the confirmation! It was a really special day. We were really happy about how it all went down.

This week we had some other miracles as well. We had 2 exchanges this week and I was able to navigate fairly well through both of them. They were both great. I was with Elder Bockarie from Sierra Leone and Elder Ogdon from Idaho and we enjoyed ourselves. We had a lot of bounced appointments and I had some small navigation problems but I survived! I was worried about getting hopelessly lost but God helped us out a lot and we made it out and back in one piece.

Also, my companion is incredible. We had interviews and zone council this week and in our council we talked about stewardship. We talked about the parable of the talents and how God expects us to improve our companions. You might get a 1, 2, 5, or 10 talent companion, but no matter what, we need to help each other. Elder Liljenquist is a 10 talent companion. I freaking love that guy. He's a really hard worker and is really committed to doing things the right way which I really appreciate.

We also had a great experience this week with Philip, a guy who's been coming to church but hasn't really been giving us time to meet. We met him on the road in our area and in the conversation I felt prompted to tell him that someone we were teaching (Sylvia) was being baptized a member of the Church on Sunday. He looked really surprised and was like, "What about me? Am I not a member?" And we were like yeah, you're our brother but not a full member unless you get baptized. And he was like oh heck yeah I would love that I thought I was already a member. It turns he didn't know why we wanted to meet with him and that's why he's not really been giving us time. We made plans to meet him more regularly and hopefully he'll be baptized soon.

One thing I've learned this week is faith. Nothing in the work happens unless we do something. Faith precedes the miracle, and action is faith. So don't be afraid to take that step this week. God won't let you fall if you trust H
