Martin the Miracle and the City of Enoch

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great week. Mine was awesome, albeit a little crazy. We had some big miracles and big news this week.

We had a lot of fun times this week as well. On Tuesday I got to go on exchange with Elder Seeley, my former companion who I trained almost a year ago. All of our appointments ended up bouncing, but it was still a really great exchange. I loved seeing how he's grown and progressed so much over the past year while still retaining his personality and stuff. It was a lot of fun. He's a really good Elder.

We also had the Facebook team come to our zone this week and shoot some music videos. It was a ton of fun. They have a fun production-producer-deadline-competent energy while also still being focused and dedicated missionaries. I sang How Great Thou Art and played my guitar for one and we did a quartet with Elders Ogdon, Self, and Malu that sounded AMAZING. I'm hopefully gonna find the audio and attach it to this email. I really loved it because that's also missionary work. We're bearing our testimonies of Christ through music! It was nice.

We had two big miracles this week in our work. The first is Martin. I've been hearing about him since I was here this spring. He had been taught by the Anaji Elders and was about to get baptized but then couldn't because of some issues. He kinda got dropped, but then Elder Holt, one of the Elders who taught him, passed by while travelling for transfers and felt prompted to go visit him. He found out that Martin is still ready to get baptized and feels kind of hurt about how things turned out.

It turns out he works in our area, so we have been trying to teach him. A few times it bounced, but on Friday evening we taught him and it was so nice. He loves the Church and the Gospel and knows that it is true. He said he is ready to work towards baptism again.

That was a super great experience and I'm excited to see how it goes! Unfortunately, our other progressing guy Philip has been running from us and not answering his phone, but keep praying for him!

Our other miracle this week was Enoch. Enoch is the 18-year-old grandson of our relief society president who comes to church literally every week but isn't baptized. Apparently his grandma told the missionaries not to teach him some time ago. We've been trying to find out why and finally had the Bishop go and talk to her about it. It turns out she just wanted to make sure Enoch was serious about the Church and now that he's been so many times, she said we can teach him! We haven't taught him yet and we haven't even been able to talk to him about it but we're so hyped to hopefully help him progress. He comes to church every week already, so hopefully we'll be able to help him progress quickly.

We also had a sweet lesson with blessing this week, who is also progressing super well. Her mom is a recent convert, so hopefully she'll also be baptized soon! We just need the permission of her dad, so pray for Oga Kelvin that his heart will be softened so she can be baptized.

We're also teaching Alex who is in a similar situation and needs his dad's permission to be baptized. Please pray for him as well!

In other news, transfers are here and I'M STAYING! Yay! So is Elder Liljenquist. I'm beyond happy about it. Things are moving so well here and I know they'll continue.

I've really felt the love of God this week. I often make mistakes and get impatient with people but he forgives me. He helps me to be better. And I get to help him help other people be better. It's so awesome. I love being a missionary and I love God. And I love all of you! Have a great week. Pray for Alex, Oga Kelvin, Blessing, Philip, and Anthony this week!
Love,
Elder Johnson
