The Wise and Foolish Virgins Part Ways

Good afternoon everyone! It's been a big week. Martin came to church again and is hopefully going to be baptized this Sunday if all goes well. We were also able to teach Anthony over the phone on Saturday and he came to church! It was awesome. We taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ and he accepted an invitation to be baptized on the 6th of next month. That might actually have to get pushed back a week because he said he'll travel for a week somewhere between then and now but it was still very exciting. He's an awesome guy and his girlfriend Edinam is a member so things are going well.

In other less exciting news, Elder Liljenquist is going on transfer. I've never been more sad to see a companion go, but I've also conversely never felt so much happiness and gratitude to be companions with someone. In the 12 weeks we've been together, Elder Liljenquist has taught me how to put others first, be easy to get along with, not worry about numbers, and a whole host of other things. On Saturday before transfer news came, we sat down for lunch (which was fufu and abenkwan with smoked salmon, the food they eat in heaven), we talked about all we've learned here in this area together and throughout our missions. We've both come a long, long ways from the silly little fellas we were at BYU together, but we've still got a long ways to go. It just makes me feel good to know there are people like Elder Liljenquist in this mission, the church, and the world.

It's sad to see him go but it's also nice because everyone in the ward has been feeding us like crazy since he said he's going. We haven't even been able to make it to all of our eating appointments over the few days. It's awesome.
We've visited a lot of members anyway this week because we've been doing a Book of Mormon challenge with our members. We've been teaching them small about the Book of Mormon and showing them places in the book they can use to answer people's questions. Mostly the introduction, but we showed a few members 3rd Nephi 11 too. After teaching them, we give them a book of Mormon to give to someone. It's been super nice and has helped us get to know members more and also help them do missionary work. We have such great people in our ward.

I don't have anymore time today but I love you all! The Book of Mormon is the word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to enter the covenant path that leads back to our Heavenly Father!

Love,
Elder Johnson
