Mistake-making Miracle Workers

Image
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you're all doing well.  This week was interesting. We had a few days where Elder Greer was sick so we either went out late or came back early, but we saw a lot of miracles in the time we did spend in our area. Dorcas, a lady referred to us by a member this week, is doing well and we also started teaching her sister Amelia. We met an awesome lady named Patience through a member as well and things with her are also great. We also had another stellar coordination meeting on Sunday which I really enjoyed, and we had a much needed talk with our bishop after church. Our ward mission leader Sebastian rocks, and Anderson, the Elder's Quorum president, is super diligent and helps us teach multiple lessons every Sunday after church. Sister Affran, the Relief Society president, is an organization and assignment making machine. We've had a great time working with them.  One miracle we saw this week was with Richard, a kid who has been coming to church

Mud and Miracles

Good evening everyone! I hope you're great. This week was wild but cool.  First of all, I have a new companion. His name is Elder Greer and he's from Arizona. We were in the same district in Takoradi awhile ago so I was very excited when I found out he was my comp. He's a great guy, has a great attitude, and really teaches by the Spirit. We've enjoyed this week so much.  And some crazy stuff has happened! On Monday, it started raining like crazy so we took shelter at a lumber mill owned by a dude named Muhammed Ali. I would've asked him if he likes to box but he didn't speak English and I don't know how to ask that in Fante. We continued on and I ended up riding my bike into the gutter that same day. We also got yelled at by a rasta-fied anti-Christ on Tuesday which was interesting. Those who need God most listen to him the least.  That was the mud. So here's the miracles. We were walking around in the sun on Friday when we had the thought to go and vi

You Can't Just Mosey on over to Jesus

Good morning everyone! The above quote is attributed to Elder Hill, my wonderful and wise companion. I've felt it a whole lot this week.  This week was good and went so fast. We had interviews with President which were so wonderful. President Morgan makes me feel like his friend. He's definitely called of God to lead this mission.  And God apparently told him that the trio needs to be broken up. Sad day! Elder Mposhi and Elder Hill are both going on transfer this Wednesday. I'll be staying in Elmina. I'm so sad that they're going but I know that they'll do amazing wherever they go. Elder Hill was called to be a zone leader which is awesome! He'll do so well at that. And Elder Mposhi will very likely go back to Agona, the place he was before the emergency transfer, so we'll probably still be in the same district. It'll be a great transfer. The work is going well. We've had great experiences with members this week. On Sunday we were supposed to h

Free-spirited Vermont Lady Accepts Jesus (Almost)

Good morning everybody. This week was cool. Also, happy birthday to my wonderful mother!  It started with touring the Elmina slave castle last Monday. It was really sad. Apparently over 7 million slaves went through that castle.  Partway through the tour we got to the first church built in Africa outside of Ethiopia. If you want to know about the first one, hit up Elder Evans. While in there we had a kind of awkward conversation about Christianity with our tour guide and a free spirit lady from Vermont. We got to testify of Christ and our tour guide told the Vermont lady that we could "lay hands on her" and pray for her right there so she could accept Jesus Christ. It was a really awkward 35 seconds before the subject changed.  In other, more spiritual news, we had our baptism this week! Helena and Elizabeth were baptized and it was so nice. It was a process to get things going though. Our chapel doesn't have a baptismal font, so we arranged with members at another near

Good morning everyone! I hope you're all doing great. This week was really good. I got pretty sunburned but we also had some really amazing experiences. I want to share some of them with you in bullet form.  Belly up in the gutter-  This week while we were getting lunch my bike tipped over into Elder Hill's bike and they both fell into the 3 foot gutter. That would've been fine, except there was about 1 foot of sewage water in the gutter. Needless to say, we had kind of a stinky ride that day.  No man knoweth the hour of (their) coming-  There's only 3 of us and we have district council by ourselves in our apartment. It's always tempting to not take it very seriously, but we try to discipline ourselves. On Tuesday about halfway through district council someone knocked on our door. We opened it and were surprised to see the office elders! They were passing by to join our district council. We happily welcomed them in. It made me think how different that meeting would&
