BIG

Good evening everybody! This week was big. Big lessons, big hours, big commitments. Big highs and big lows.  One kinda big low is that we haven't talked to Francis in a couple of days. Part of that is because we don't have call credit, but he also said he's not ready to make all the changes necessary for baptism, like word of wisdom and law of chastity. He also didn't come to church. However, after some coaxing, he told us we can come tomorrow though so hopefully we can figure out how to help him better.  That kind of shook me up. I was just so sure he was going to be our miracle baptism. The thought of him not being baptized, not wanting to meet with us, etc., kinda wrecked me. It's happened before, many times actually, but it seemed a lot harder this time. It's tough to see people that you care a lot about exercise their agency sometimes. I know it will all be OK though.  There were also some mega big highs though! Sister Bernice wants to be baptized now! We

Good morning everyone! This week was really great. It started out on Tuesday with zone council, which is basically a meeting with our whole zone where we receive instruction and share ideas about how to be better missionaries. It was really powerful, and we ate at KFC after. Like Kentucky Fried Chicken, with Colonel Sanders and stuff. I've been waiting to eat there since I got transferred here, and it was worth the wait. It's a lot different than the KFC at home (there's no biscuits or mashed potatoes or anything) but I had a chicken wrap thing with fries that was really nice. I'm definitely not going to eat there often because it's really expensive but it was fun to try it out.  Another exciting thing about this week is that yesterday someone filled our water tank so now we have running water again! Takoradi is having some serious water shortages lately, so we haven't had running water for the past 3 weeks. Every morning we would go fetch water from a neighbo

Good evening everyone. I hope you're all doing well. This week was nice. We've been doing a ton of finding, just like the last few weeks, but we also put Rosina and Success on date! They're both younger girls who stay with family who are members. We've been teaching them since we arrived and it's going to be so exciting to baptize them. They're both really, really smart and they have a good grasp of what they're doing which is great. Whenever we teach Rosina, like 5 other little kids come and join which is kinda tough at times, but also good. I'm going to be such a prepared primary teacher when I go home.  Their families too are great. Charlotte, Rosina's aunt, fed us jollof (which is really yummy rice) the other day, and the Ankumas, who are Success's aunt and uncle, are also really awesome and treat us really well. Plus they have a super comfy couch and we usually teach Success last thing so it's nice.  It's not just those two familie

Good morning everybody! I hope you all had a great week. We definitely did. I apologize in advance for the lack of pictures. We were mega busy this week and there wasn't a lot of photo ops.  This was probably one of the greatest weeks of my mission. We were so, so busy all week. Since we got here, we've been doing a whole lot of finding new people to teach, which basically means we walk around town and go up to people, talk to them, and then ask if we can share a message about Jesus Christ with them. If they say yes (which they often do. Ghanaians are awesome), we either set a time to go see them or we just sit down (or stand) and have a lesson right then and there. It's really fun.  But we've done a lot of that, since we are both new to the area and often don't have anything else to do. We've also been able to continue teaching some of the people who were previously taught which has been great. There's some younger kids in the ward who were referred to us

Good afternoon everybody! I hope you all are having a great Monday. This week was really great. It was a little hard in some ways, but also really great in some other ways.  First of all, on Tuesday I had to say bye to everyone in Cape Coast which was really tough. Sunday especially was hard but you've already heard about that. Grace, my amazing Ghanaian grandmother who I love, cried when we said goodbye, and I cried at church saying bye to people so that was all kind of rough. It was sad, but I feel so blessed to have been with them for as long as I have.  Wednesday was the transfer meeting. It was so nice to see all my MTC group and different people I've served with. One part of being a missionary that people don't really talk about is how awesome it is to just know other missionaries and hang out with them. Elder Seeley is training a new missionary, so we had to come super early so he could go to the training meeting and I was just kind of hanging out for awhile. It en
