Week of Wonders

Good evening everyone. My time is limited and even if it wasn't I'm sure I couldn't do this week justice in a short email. A lot of big things happened this week. Let me just bullet them out small.

First things first, Martin got baptized! Martin was found by missionaries in November of last year, taught everything, and even interviewed for baptism but couldn't be baptized because of some issues. He kinda fell off the radar, but then Elder Holt, one of the missionaries who taught him, talked to him and found out that he has changed from what was holding him back and is ready to be baptized. We called him and started meeting with him a few months ago, and everything has fallen into place since then. Martin was ready, just waiting for someone to help him make covenants with God. Elder Holt followed the prompting to go check on him and now as a result of that, he's baptized. Almost a year after Elder Holt and Elder Ampofo found him. God is a God of miracles. It was such a special day. So many people were so happy to see Martin get baptized. And the ward is so ready to receive him as well. It was a cool thing to be a part of.

That Sunday was freaking crazy though. Anthony, a wonderful guy who is also on date to be baptized next month, come to church along with Lina and Theresa who came for their first time. It was really divine how it all worked out. They'd both refused invitations to church multiple times, but the spirit was really there as we taught them both (separately) about the restoration of the Gospel and what they should do it about it and they accepted to come to church. And they actually came! It was a miracle. We unfortunately had a fight break out at church right in front of them between our mentally ill piano player and a girl who told him to stop bothering her because she's not into him that resulted in a police call, but hopefully they both still had good experiences regardless. Sorry for the very long sentence. Lina stayed for the baptism though which was cool. We're excited for them.

I also got a new companion! Wow. His name is Elder Hendrickson and he's awesome. He's from a small town in Idaho and it sounds like we've had very similar lives. He also worked on ranches, played basketball, and did FFA in high school. We found out we were even at the same FFA contest in Elko one year. It was crazy. Small world. He's a great man and ready to work hard. We've had a lot of hectic stuff and long days and he's never once complained. He's a great teacher and really has the spirit. I miss Elder Liljenquist, but I know we'll still be OK.

We just came from the stake center where we were cleaning to prepare for tomorrow when Elder Klebingat of the 70 will come teach us at zone conference. We had a fun time getting ready for that. We cleaned the entire Chapel Hill Chapel but then found out that the power was out there so we moved to the stake center and cleaned that whole place too. We're really good at sweeping now.

God is good. I know this is his work. I know that even though I have a new companion it'll still keep rolling. This is bigger than me and I never want to stop doing it. I love Takoradi, Ghana, Ghanaians, this work, and the Lord.

I love you all!

Love,

Elder Johnson
