Unkillable

What's up everybody. This week was great. I had a great exchange with my powerful leader, interviews with President Morgan, and Alfred brought his wife and daughter with him to church! It was awesome.  We were very busy this week. Last week we found a ton of new people so we've been trying to follow up on them and keep things moving with everyone else. Gifty is doing well but didn't come to church on Sunday. We had a cool experience helping her husband close his shop yesterday as well. They sell stuff at the roadside but their shop is down the hill. We saw that he was coming to close but then he went to go and get something, so while he was gone we closed the whole shop for him so he could go home. He came right as we were finishing and was grateful, lest you think that we closed the shop before he was ready.  Alfred is also incredible. We had an awesome lesson with him this week. He's a future Sunday school teacher. While we teach him he listens intently and then is

Greatest Athletic Achievement of My Life and Other Stories

Good morning my friends! This week has been incredible. I'm going to talk about it all out of order so brace yourselves.  In reference to the title, we've started youth activity night in Elubo. Every Saturday we go play soccer with the youth in the branch and their friends. Random kids walking by also join in sometimes. We're hoping that it'll be a good finding opportunity and also strengthen our youth. Most of them are recent converts.  Anyway, around 40 kids usually show up so I'm usually a spectator/facilitator but because of a rainstorm our usual field was flooded so we had to move to a new field. Because of that, less people came so I was able to play.  The problem is, I've never really played soccer before except in Ghana. I found out that I'm bad at scoring so I just stand on the defensive side and whenever the ball comes to me I just kick it as hard as I can away from our goal. On Saturday I was doing that and by some miracle, I kicked it all the w

Electness

This week was wonderful! The title of this email is probably not a real word, but I feel like it conveys how things are going in Elubo now. In our apartment I have a scripture wall in front of the desk where I study. Anytime I find a scripture that I like, I write it on a sticky note and stick it to the wall. It's kinda fun.   There's one scripture that I recently added that I've been thinking about a lot. It's Doctrine and Covenants 29:7. It reads, "And ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts." In Elubo we've recently been blessed to be able to find and teach some very elect people.  The first is Isaac. He's awesome. We found him a month or two ago while visiting a member. We invited him to church and instead of giving excuses, he straightaway promised to come. And he showed up! His work schedule has made it difficult for us to meet him very regularly but we've been wor

Greatest Temporal Achievement of My Life

Good morning everyone! This week was wild and so wonderful. Let me give you some highlights.  This week we got a call at 6:25 a.m. from our branch president asking us to come help move our materials into our new chapel. Our new chapel has been ready for a long time but there's been different problems that have prevented us from moving there. We were thrilled to go help. Our old chapel is the top floor of an apartment building owned by a supposed madman with a bad reputation and it sometimes detracts from our sacrament attendance. So we were excited to finally move.  Our new chapel is so nice! It's right in the middle of town next to the main road and everything is new and nice and I'm really excited to see how that'll help the work move. We also put up our sign board using tape and cement blocks (see picture). As I taped the signboard to the railing, I felt the greatness of this work. Things are just starting in Elubo, but they just started in Palmyra once too. I thin
