Week of Wonders

Image
Good evening everyone. My time is limited and even if it wasn't I'm sure I couldn't do this week justice in a short email. A lot of big things happened this week. Let me just bullet them out small.  First things first, Martin got baptized! Martin was found by missionaries in November of last year, taught everything, and even interviewed for baptism but couldn't be baptized because of some issues. He kinda fell off the radar, but then Elder Holt, one of the missionaries who taught him, talked to him and found out that he has changed from what was holding him back and is ready to be baptized. We called him and started meeting with him a few months ago, and everything has fallen into place since then. Martin was ready, just waiting for someone to help him make covenants with God. Elder Holt followed the prompting to go check on him and now as a result of that, he's baptized. Almost a year after Elder Holt and Elder Ampofo found him. God is a God of miracles. It was s

Elder Klebingat Is the Coolest Person I Know

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Life is good here. We had an awesome week, thanks in large part to God and his servant Elder Klebingat. For those of you who don't know, Elder Klebingat is a member of theQquorum of the 70 and is also a Councillor in the Africa West Area Presidency. He came to our mission this week and I was able to go a zone conference that he taught at as well as MLC, and it was so, so cool.  He really helped me see that this mission is not about us. I feel like we as missionaries sometimes get caught up on how this mission is a great time to learn and grow and develop and enjoy and survive so we can get your returned missionary stamp, go and find a righteous wife, and live happily every after, but that's not what it's about. We're here to help others come unto Christ.  He talked about how this mission is a covenant relationship with God and how we agreed to that when we came out. He talked about how disobedience and anythin

Good afternoon everyone! It's been a big week. Martin came to church again and is hopefully going to be baptized this Sunday if all goes well. We were also able to teach Anthony over the phone on Saturday and he came to church! It was awesome. We taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ and he accepted an invitation to be baptized on the 6th of next month. That might actually have to get pushed back a week because he said he'll travel for a week somewhere between then and now but it was still very exciting. He's an awesome guy and his girlfriend Edinam is a member so things are going well. In other less exciting news, Elder Liljenquist is going on transfer. I've never been more sad to see a companion go, but I've also conversely never felt so much happiness and gratitude to be companions with someone. In the 12 weeks we've been together, Elder Liljenquist has taught me how to put others first, be easy to get along with, not worry about numbers, and a whole ho

Miracle Week

This week was so amazing. I'm not sure I've ever been happier than I have been this week. Enock got baptized, Martin came to church, we had 3 powerful exchanges, and I ate pizza and an abundance of fufu. Life is good.  I had three different exchanges with three different elders on three different days this week and I loved it. Elder Manga from Sierra Leone was the first. He's a really great missionary and a great guy. He understands why he's here and is ready to do the work that the Lord has asked him to do. We taught our friend Julliet the Plan of Salvation by reading 2 Nephi 2 with her and it was so wonderful. She has a lot of questions and didn't seem too convinced by our answers but it was still a very spiritual lesson. Pray for Juliet!  Next was Elder Muwawa, from the DRC. He's so cool. He spent 10 months serving in Congo because of a visa issue and just came to Ghana this transfer and he's doing so well. Congo is a French-speaking country so he's l

Good morning everyone! I hope you're doing great. This week flew by. A lot of stuff happened.  First of all, like you know, we moved last week. It was fine, except our power and our water weren't working for the whole week. That made the week more exciting for sure. It was honestly pretty fun. We had water outside in our tank so we just fetched it in with buckets and not having power gave us an excuse to go and sleep over at our old apartment so we could charge our phone and hang out with the brethren. There was a lot of back and forth travel and wahala, but we still got His work done as best we could.  I've also eaten fufu almost every day this week. I'm slowly falling in love with Ghana and its heavy, spicy, absolutely delicious food. Pray for my body that it will be able to keep handling it haha.  Update on our people: Enoch is hopefully getting baptized this Sunday if his grandma gets back from Accra in time. Pray for him! He's doing really well and we've
